“Silent Scream”
A Boy and an Olive Tree
Blood gushes,
He lays still.
Three bullets were
enough
For the kill.
He took his last
breaths,
As thoughts flooded his
mind.
He thought not of
himself,
But of mankind.
He was a Palestinian
boy,
Strong at heart,
A believer of human
rights,
A defender of his part.
Only sixteen years old,
A man, without a voice,
He only fought,
Because there was no
other choice.
He was trapped in a
situation,
He was forced to
accept.
And involuntarily,
Tears formed, and he
wept.
A tear fell for his
mother,
For he was conceived in
her womb.
He cannot feel her
motherly touch,
Buried in his tomb.
A tear dropped for his
people,
Who struggle, suffer,
and weep.
“Work for justice,
To achieve peace”
A tear shed for the
world,
That they may open
their eyes,
And send a white dove
to his flag-
One of peace, to
beautify.
A tear followed for his
killer,
Who murdered an
innocent child.
A tear in hope,
Of a sin reconciled.
A tear dripped for
hope,
Whose hand he still
held.
For hope gives the
defense of a shield,
Whose strength is
unparalleled.
A tear shed for
documents,
Treaties and contracts
unsigned.
For death will plague,
Unless compromise is
underlined.
A moment before his
last breath.
He noticed the trunk of
an olive tree
at his side;
The tree was gone, but
roots remained-
So he smiled before he
died.
A boy killed by the
bullet of
circumstance.
His people wondered,
Whose doing was this ?
Whose choice ? Whose
will ?
With every death, every
tear,
The situation develops
Into one less clear.
